Description
The word prosciutto translates to “ham” in Italian and is made only from the hind legs of pigs. Prosciutto is aged during a dry-curing process involving salt and air drying.
The quality of prosciutto is based on the curing process, region and strict quality controls that go into the production.
Prosciutto originated in Italy thousands of years ago. Like so many other delicacies it developed as a method of keeping the ham fresh throughout the year.
