Solway Samphire

£2.50

Our Solway Samphire is hand picked on the marshes of the Solway Firth in South West Scotland.

Samphire has a distinctive taste not unlike asparagus which is why some people call it “sea asparagus”.

I can’t think of any other vegetable that goes as well with cod, salmon, seabass etc. than this intertidal seaweed and it’s not just tasty, it’s packed with nutrition making it an all round super-food.

Chef’s Tip – Put the samphire in a covered bowl with a tablespoon of water and microwave it for a minute or until the stems are tender. Tip into a pan with some melted butter and toss it around  to cover it in the butter. Finally squeeze a generous amount of lemon into the pan and serve with your favourite fish.
